Is GrantAdvance a loan or early access to my SASSA grant?

GrantAdvance is not a loan. It gives eligible GoTyme Bank customers early access to part of their upcoming SASSA grant without charging fees or interest. You can request a GrantAdvance between the 15th and 29th of the month using the GoTyme Bank App or by dialling *120*543#. Each successful request can be for up to R500. You may submit up to two requests in a month, with the second request available from the 22nd. Depending on your grant type and eligibility, you could access up to R1,000 in total.

Once your request is approved, the money is paid directly into your GoTyme Bank Current Account. You’ll still receive your full grant payment from SASSA on the usual payment date. GoTyme Bank will then collect the advanced amount from the grant money paid into your account. You won’t pay more than the amount you received. GoTyme Bank does not charge interest or a fee for using GrantAdvance.

GrantAdvance is offered by GoTyme Bank and is not a SASSA product. SASSA remains responsible for paying your social grant, while GoTyme Bank decides whether you qualify for early access.

To be considered, you must be between 18 and 70 years old and have a biometrically verified GoTyme Bank Current Account in good standing. Your qualifying SASSA grant must be paid into this account and you must have received at least one grant payment before requesting a GrantAdvance. Approval is not guaranteed. You need to meet the eligibility requirements every time you make a request and the amount available may depend on the type of grant you receive. Please note that SRD grants do not qualify for GrantAdvance.
