How do I pay my domestic worker on payday with PayShap?

• 20 Oct 2026

Send an Instant Payment via PayShap from the GoTyme Bank app using their cellphone number or account number. The money lands in their account instantly, even when payday falls on a weekend or public holiday, so they can use it straight away.

Why it matters to the person you pay

A delayed payment can mean missed taxi fare or a school fee paid late. With PayShap there is no waiting for an EFT to clear and no cash to draw and hand over. Both of you get a notification the moment the money lands, so there is no doubt that it has been paid.

How to pay on payday

  1. Open the GoTyme Bank app and tap Pay.
  2. Choose to pay a cellphone number or an account number and select their bank.
  3. Check their registered name, add a reference like "October wages" and confirm.

*Remember, they need a South African bank account to receive an Instant Payment via PayShap. If they do not have one, you can send them a money voucher instead.

What it costs

Instant Payments up to R5,000 are free and a flat R7 applies from R5,001 up to the R50,000 limit. If they bank with GoTyme Bank, GoTyme to GoTyme payments up to R500,000 are always instant and always free.

Each payment also sits in your transaction history with its reference, which gives you both a clear record of every payday.

Open the GoTyme Bank app, tap Pay and make payday easy with Instant Payments via PayShap.
