How can I use PayShap with one cellphone number for multiple bank accounts?

• 13 Oct 2026

Your cellphone number can be linked to a ShapID at one or more banks. When someone pays you by cellphone number, they choose which bank to pay you at, so the money goes to the account you want. Just tell them which bank to select.

How it works when someone pays you

In the GoTyme Bank app, the person paying taps Pay, chooses to pay a cellphone number, enters your number and then selects the bank. We automatically check whether an Instant Payment is available. Before they confirm, they see your registered name, so they know it is you.

Moving money between your own accounts

Bank with GoTyme Bank and somewhere else? You can send a Payment Request via PayShap to your own account at another bank to move your own money across. Approve it in your other banking app and the money arrives in your GoTyme Bank account instantly. Payment Requests work with African Bank, Capitec, FNB, Nedbank and Standard Bank.

Make it easy for people who pay you

If you have a favourite account for getting paid, say so up front. A simple line on your invoice or in your WhatsApp message, like "PayShap to my cellphone number, select GoTyme Bank", saves everyone a step.

Open the GoTyme Bank app and start receiving Instant Payments via PayShap.
