Switch to a beautiful banking experience today.
Johannesburg, 21 September 2026: GoTyme Bank made its huge debut as headline sponsor of Lentedag 2026, one of South Africa’s biggest student festivals. Held on 16 September at the Pretoria National Botanical Gardens, the sold-out event brought more than 15,000 young people together across five stages featuring over 15 artists.
For GoTyme Bank, Lentedag was an opportunity to connect with younger South Africans beyond traditional banking channels.
“Lentedag is a celebration of music, friendship and youth culture, making it a natural platform to connect with a new generation of customers,” said Lucia Malapane, Head of Brand at GoTyme Bank. “We want to be present in the moments people enjoy and remember while showing them that banking can be simple, accessible and ultimately beautiful.”
As a digital bank offering a new way of doing things, GoTyme Bank has a natural affinity with young people who are open to doing things differently. Students are already earning, spending, saving and forming lifelong banking habits.
Lentedag forms part of the bank’s broader approach to becoming more present in student life and youth culture through relevant experiences, useful banking solutions and ongoing engagement.
GoTyme Bank’s involvement went beyond placing its logo at the festival. Virtual cardholders received access to exclusive ticket pricing through a dedicated allocation, while customers could also use free return bus transport between Hatfield and the festival.
“Students need banking that is affordable, easy to understand and designed for real life. GoTyme Bank’s everyday account has no monthly fee, and customers can open an account digitally through the app in under five minutes, without paperwork,” highlighted Malapane. “GoalSave can also help students save towards textbooks, tuition or a laptop while earning up to 10% interest a year.”
As the pioneer of free PayShap in the country, GoTyme Bank also made it seamless for festival goers to move their money. In the new GoTyme Bank app, customers can make free instant payments of up to R5,000, use their virtual card – including Apple Pay – and use the card controls available to keep their payments and card activity secure.
The response at Lentedag reinforced that young customers value simplicity, transparency, convenience and brands that understand their lives. The conversations gave GoTyme Bank valuable insight into students’ priorities and financial pressure points.
As one of the fastest growing banks in South Africa, the focus is now on building a beautiful banking experience that empowers customers through different phases of life.
